Simply Divine!

In her interview on StyleLikeU, Tony award winning actress, dancer & singer, Liliane Montevecchi says, "I don't like things. Things tie you down, and I want to be free." As of late, this is something that I have come to understand quite well. Since my return to acting full time I have come to realize that I need very little except a few of my favorite things, the studio, my family, friends & and my iPad. (I love my iPad.) 

I wanted to share Liliane's interview with you because I think that Ms. Montevecchi is incredibly inspiring, especially to young artists who may not have fully come into their power just yet. My time at the studio has taught me so much... and sometimes I feel I learn more from watching the other actors present. Of course you learn from doing, but there is something very special about watching. I never understand the actors that come, do their work, leave, and don't watch anybody else's work. But that's their business, and their loss. 

Back to Liliane...

She is a star because she doesn't question whether or not she is a star.

She knows that she is a star, and if somebody told her that she wasn't, she would laugh in their face. She is so sure of herself, that automatically, the people around her become sure of her too. For example, the woman landed a 7 year contract in Hollywood without speaking a word of English! Watch the video to hear the story out of her own mouth, but basically, she came from Paris to Hollywood without speaking a word of English and all of a sudden found herself at The Actor's Studio with Montgomery Clift, in class with Marilyn Monroe, being coached by Marlon Brando, and working on film alongside of Elvis!

You see, Liliane became a success because she gave herself the permission to be a success. I see so many actors who "are waiting to be discovered" (keyword waiting, as in, not taking the power into their own hands and making things happen for themselves) and so many who wouldn't know or think they are good unless somebody tells them so. Not that anyone should walk around thinking they are God's gift to the theatre (there is a big difference between cocky and confident!!) But I do think somewhere inside of yourself you have to know that you can do it. Because after all, if you don't believe in yourself, who will?

So watch her video, I guarantee it will inspire you, as well as put a smile on your face. I had the privilege of being in the room when she was being interviewed and I want you to know that she is as kind as she is talented... She was simply divine! And... I touched her Tony :)
